Chapter 7: Sacred Sexuality and Awakening Shakti

Chapter 7: Sacred Sexuality

Sexuality in the modern world is often a taboo topic.  Yet, if you look close enough, the use of sex is everywhere from music to selling cheeseburgers.  The modern world is changing and with it the ability to openly express and honor one’s individual sexuality.  The year 2015 marks a new chapter where gay marriage is legal in the US.  In many states, unisex bathrooms are available to honor those who affiliate themselves as another sex.  Discussions on sexuality are in public forums and social media chats.

What does all of this have to do with the journey itself?  Society has opened its minds more on human sexuality thus providing a safer environment to explore individual sexuality.  To honor and respect your sexuality and your body you build upon a golden bushel known as confidence.  When you are confident in your body, you are confident in mind.  Having a healthy confidence can shift the perception on obstacles on the journey.  I am not saying all the sudden you are a superhero but know that we are all divine creatures and it is time to start acting like it.

By now if you followed the requirements, you should be exercising four times a week and should be getting good rest.  You should feel positive changes such as better rest and more energy while awake.  With the exercise along with the energy work within this workbook, you should start to feel a positive grounded outlook.  This chapter will take you to a deeper, often personal region of yourself, your intimate nature.

  1. Sacred Sexuality

Sacred Sexuality is a to express the many areas of sexuality that is divine in nature.  To Wiccans, sacred sexuality is to understand the Great Rite, which is where the Priest and Priestess invoke the God and Goddess and induce a sexual rite.  One of the greatest gifts you can give the Deities/God/Goddess is the opportunity to feel the bliss that comes from sexual congress.  In the east, Red Tantra is when sexuality becomes part of the spiritual practices to help the individuals reach a higher state of being or/and to intimately connect deeper with the individual’s partner.

The early US puritans viewed sexual practices only as important for procreation.  To commit an act of sexuality out of wedlock was shameful and sinful.  To look at oneself in a sexual manner was vanity, which was considered a sinful act.  For many, this genetically ingrained the ability to have shame and guilt, which are two shadows within the unconscious.  By working on your sexuality, you will bring the roots of those shadows into the light and uproot them for good.  I am not saying you are going to be a slut and sexually explore the world.  What I am stating is to be whole physically, an individual must be comfortable with his or her body in all aspects.  In addition, this is not a book on sexuality but the importance of its information is to learn how to use your own sexual energies as a tool for personal development.

  1. Intimicia

One of the key elements in sacred sexuality that takes normal sexual practices to the next level is intimacy.  Intimacy in this chapter refers to the sexuality that does not involve penetration or sexual congress.  If a sexual act were to follow, intimacy in this context is called foreplay.  Some examples are heavy petting, sucking on fingers or toes, kissing the neck, gentle massage with oils and offering puja or body worship.

Intimicia is different when it comes to sexuality on a transformational level.  Common examples would be cuddling, hugging, or simple rubbing the individuals arm and gazing into their eyes.  Intimicia is an expression of touch in a manner that only offers unconditional love.  Psychology studies have shown that infants and children raised in non-nurturing environments have a greater chance of dying young.  The whole interaction becomes a shock to the system.

I once viseted a medical facility my son was at for medically fragile children.  One child there I noticed struggled and nurses had to run repeatedly and help him.  I asked is he ok?  The head nurse said he was never held or nurtured physically growing up so being in the new environment was causing his nerves to spike which was causing seizures.  Two days later I went back to visit my son and learned, the very child who was in shock two nights before had passed away.  For me, it was a shock to know my son possibly witnessed the death but also sadness that the child’s upbringing was without this intimacy.  Where does this fit into your work?  If you have a friend who is sad, or if you are sad, one of the greatest healing agents is a hug.  Offer one or ask for one.

Shakti Fire

The belief that creativity stems from within is not a modern concept. For ages, practitioners of yoga believe that certain energies reside in different areas of the body. The creative fire is often described as residing in the sacral chakra. Which is right above the sexual organs. The idea that if your thinking of sex all the time, its most likely you have an overactive sacral chakra.  Which is 100% not a bad thing, just means that energy needs to be channeled to other areas of the body or through acts. Such as painting, music, writing, hiking and taking pictures, or in occasional cases sex. The body is a temple that needs nourishment and respect. To cultivate this energy from the sacral can be seen in multiple ways. I find using white and aspects of red tantra helpful along with Pranayama Yoga. Below is listed some exercises you can do to move the energy through the body.

Breathwork practice: Begin by curling your tongue to where it rests at the top pallet of your mouth. Then cock your chin downward towards your chest. This creates a Bindu lock magnetizing the spine. Then breath deep through your nostrils and out your mouth. After practicing this for a while, you should start to feel a flow of energy up the spine.

Chakra breath bestowed to me by Sylvia Brallier

Revitalizes the energetic body and removes blockages.

1. Using the breathwork practice, start with the root chakra.

2. When you magnetize the spine with your breath, focus your intention on your root chakra and visualize your breathing through it.

3. As you do see a blue flame enters through the chakra.

4. Continue the breath through each chakra going up the front of the body breathing in the blue flame.

5. Once you complete the breath through the throat chakra, move to the third eye chakra but from back of the head.

6. The back of the body is another entrance for these chakras.

7. Once you breath through the back of your head move to the crown and complete the breath.

8. Then move to the third eye on the front of the body and complete the breath.

9.Then back down to the back of the throat and complete the breath.

10. Then continue through each of the chakras on the back of the body until you reach the root.

11. Continue the cycle two more times.

White Tantra Sexual Alchemy Rite:

This is a second method of using the breath. “When you pull the sexual energies from your root to your crown. The revitalizing and purifying energies flow through each of your channels up to the crown leaving residual behind in each. When you burn bright from your crown with the energies, release in orgasm and feel them explode throughout your body providing virility and transmutation.”  I have come to find this sexual rite is great for revitalizing the bodies energies. If you have taken in energies or need to integrate what you have within, this rite aids in that as it pulls everything in the body up to the crown. The orgasm transmutes it all into your energy integrating it. This helps revitalize the body with creative energy for you to focus on. In addition helps with transmuting energy from anxiety and stress.

Process: This practice is a combination of masturbation and edging by halting before orgasm, and through pranayama breathwork pulling the energy up your spine. This should only be done individually. If with a partner that does not know how to move energies, it could potentially be a rite of sexual vampirism. Pulling their energies as well up your spine.

Breathwork practice: Prior to trying this rite, practice the breath. Begin by curling your tongue to where it rests at the top pallet of your mouth. Then cock your chin downward towards your chest. This creates a Bindu lock magnetizing the spine. Then breath deep through your nostrils and out your mouth. After practicing this for a while, you should start to feel a flow of energy up the spine. Advanced practices of this are the cobra breath and the chakra breath pulling shakti fire through each chakra revitalizing them.

Pre-Rite: Find something that stimulates the mind and body to aid in masturbation. Your intention and purpose is to revitalize and move the energies through the body.

The Rite:

Sit comfortably where your back can be straight at times. Begin stimulating yourself. Right as your getting close to orgasm, pause and sit up straight and do the breathwork. Continue this until you feel your crown on fire with energy. Then when ready release in orgasm. You should feel a warmth over your entire body and at your crown.
